English Language Assistance for International students

Specific to our School:
A doctoral student with an ESL background offers English practice sessions once a week for a few hours just for iSchool students. The date and times change by semester, so iSchool students should check the listservs and/or their program's facebook group for details.

Specific to Pitt:
The English Language Institute offers for pay courses to assist with English language learning. A word of caution, however: many of these classes are for international visitors not on an F-1 (who have low TOEFL scores and need improvement before being admitted). These would not be appropriate for our students. However, there are times when ELI may post information about for-pay courses for current students.

Perhaps more useful are the many self-paced materials available for English as a Second Language learners at the Language Media Center on campus.

Specific to Pittsburgh:
Global Pittsburgh Maintains an English language assistance in Pittsburgh page with resources that may be useful to our students.
