Successful Professional Development Day!

More than 21 LIS students took advantage of a great opportunity to sharpen their job-hunting and interview skills!  The collaborative efforts of our students and alumni truly made the 2nd Annual LIS Professional Development Day on April 8, 2006, a success!

Participating students discovered key resume and interview tips during an insightful workshop orchestrated by Erin Bridgen of the University of Pittsburgh’s Office of Career Services.  Following Ms. Bridgen’s presentation on savvy strategies, students participated in one-on-one resume reviews with the volunteers, benefiting from constructive feedback from some of SIS’s most prominent LIS grads!

Mock face-to-face and telephone interviews were performed by the alumni to conclude the day’s events.  By utilizing what they had learned throughout the day, the students proved that they will indeed be successful job seekers!

Special thanks to our LIS Professional Development Day alumni and volunteers and to Beta Phi Mu for helping to sponsor the event!
