Dr. Palanisamy speaks to WTAE Pittsburgh on Target data breach

The School of Information Sciences (the iSchool) is proud to share that Dr. Balaji Palanisamy was featured on the evening news broadcasts of WTAE Pittsburgh on Thursday, December 19, 2013. The report covered the recent credit card and debit card data breach at Target. Dr. Palanisamy advised consumers to contact their banks immediately in order to prevent false charges from appearing on their accounts if they suspect they were victims of this fraud.

Dr. Palanisamy is an Assistant Professor in the Information Science and Technology program at the iSchool. He joined the faculty in August 2013 from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned his PhD in Computer Science. His dissertation work explored “Cost-effective and Privacy-conscious Cloud Resource Provisioning: Architectures and Algorithm.” Dr. Palanisamy’s research program focuses on developing new systems, techniques and models to address the emerging challenges of performance, cost-efficiency and privacy in distributed and Cloud computing systems.
