The iSchool faculty, staff alumni, and students gathered to recognize Douglas Metzler on the occasion of his retirement. A celebratory luncheon and official ceremony was held on Friday, September 24 at the University Club. The ceremony included presentations by Dean Ronald L. Larsen and Andrew R. Blair, Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. Dr. Metzler joined the faculty of the iSchool in 1981 and worked in the areas of knowledge representation and reasoning; natural language and communication; intelligent tutoring systems; human and machine learning and datamining; problem solving; and reasoning and expert systems.
