Donald
W. King and co-author Carol Tenopir were recently awarded
the 2005 Best Publication Award for their book “Communication
Patterns of Engineers” from the Engineering Libraries
Division of the American Society for Engineering Education
(ASSE). Their book was published jointly by IEEE Press
and Wiley Interscience.
In addition, Don King participated with Carol Tenopir and Clifford Lynch in the 30th Annual American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Forum on Science and Technology Policy in Washington, DC on April 21-22, 2005. This Forum is AAAS’s most important policy meeting of the year and the major public meeting on science and technology policy in the United States. The presentation is “The Economics of Science Publishing.” It was moderated by Alan Leshner, CEO of AAAS and executive publisher of “Science”. He also presented a paper at a World Bank Conference
on “Publishing for Impact.” The April 20
presentation was “Understanding Usage, Measuring
Success”. In early April, Don presented a paper “The
Value of Libraries: A Study on Taxpayer Return” at
the April 6 Texas Library Association Annual Conference
in Austin and on April 8 gave a paper on “Drivers
of Change: The Numbers” in London at the 21st ALPSP
International Journals Seminar. |
