This award was created to recognize staff members whose work in the community surpasses the expectation of the organizations for whom they serve and whose commitment and effort have made a significant impact on the community.

The selection committee for the award cited Marsha's work with the Pitt Volunteer Pool and the dedicated service she has given to the community through her work with the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church.

The Chancellor's Award for Staff for Excellence in Service to the Community carries with it a $2,500 cash prize, which will be presented at a special reception. Marsha will also be recognized at Honors Convocation on Monday, February 28, 2005, along with other outstanding faculty members, students, and alumni. Additionally, her name will be inscribed on a plaque to be displayed in the William Pitt Union.

On behalf of all of us at SIS, congratulations go out to Marsha for being chosen to receive this award!!!!
