U.S. Steel will be in the iSchool to introduce students to the mission of the corporation, to answer questions about working at the corporation, to collect resumes, and to have students agree to receive correspondence from US Steel.  This event, featuring light refreshments, targets BSIS students.

Melissa Reinert from the Office of International Services (OIS) will conduct a session designed for international students attending Pitt in F-1 or J-1 status who may be interested in an employment options. Attend the session to learn about immigration requirements so that you can apply for work authorization to participate in an internship opportunity, either on- or off-campus, at the University of Pittsburgh.

All faculty, staff, graduate students, alums in the area, and prospective graduate students on campus for Admitted Students’ Day are invited to enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.  This is a great opportunity to network, discuss ideas, get to know each other, talk about conferences and research ideas, and to play a few games. Thanks to the generous support of the following iSchool student groups for making this event possible: Doctoral Guild, SISGO, ASIS&T, SLAPSG, NDSA, and SCALA.

As the former CIO of Crayola, Sandra Brandon (the iSchool’s Chief of Staff) is well-versed in the information needs of employers.  She will share her perspective on how the background and perspectives you are developing as part of your Master’s education in the iSchool address real needs of many employers.  She will also discuss with you how to present these skills to potential employers in ways that will get you noticed.  Lunch will be provided.

The iSchool Commonwealth Scholars will be hosting a collaborative conversation between iSchool faculty members and students to fulfill the iSchool’s mission of embedding diversity and inclusion within the consciousness of those in the field of Library and Information Science.

Representatives of the Office of Research will take participants on a tour of research funding databases and sources.  This presentation is designed for any iSchool students and faculty who would benefit from a guided overview of funding databases and other resources available to search for research funding.
