Assistant Professor James “Kip” Currier will lead a discussion of key issues regarding copyright laws and examine why such issues are relevant in an iSchool.  Dr. Currier will explore current debates over copyright and culture, as well as the definition of fair use.  Lunch will be provided.

They will share need-to-know information about the interview process,  their duties and responsibilities during their internships, and what they wish they had known before they embarked on this learning adventure.

The Faculty Search Process

If you want to learn more about the search process and how to successfully navigate through it, this is a great opportunity! Members of recent iSchool faculty search committees will participate in a panel discussion of key questions including defining the skills/knowledge sought, the selection of applicants for further investigation or campus visits, the administrative challenges faced during faculty searches, and the timelines involved.  Lunch will be provided.

CourseWeb Training Session

CIDDE experts Erik Arroyo, Online Programs Coordinator, and Dean Croll, Instructional Technologist, will lead a CourseWeb training session for those teaching iSchool classes and wanting to take advantage of the many tools in the system. Depending upon your information needs, the instructors can explore a range of topics including course menu customization; creating assessments and surveys (and utilizing the question pool to facilitate creation of such tools); comparing and contrasting the discussion board, journal, wiki, and blog tools and identifying strategies for using each tool; creating a group and utilizing the components of the Groups feature; and identifying and efficiently utilizing the basic features of the Grade Center. Professor Vladimir Zadorozhny will explore theoretical and practical considerations in the study and use of Big Data. He will explore the meaning of the term Big Data, as well as how the topics represented by this concept are relevant to iSchool faculty, students and researchers. Lunch will be provided.
