iSchool hosts session with GlobalPittsburgh to train Russian information technology specialists

The iSchool was proud to host a professional training session with GlobalPittsburgh for four guests invited to the United States through the Open World Leadership Center at the Library of Congress. From November 16 through the 24, participants met with representatives from a number of local educational and government institutions and discussed topics relevant to information technology such as innovation, educational policy, market development trends, and policies for cloud technologies, among others.

On Tuesday, November 19, a group of iSchool faculty and staff, including Paul Munro, Peter Brusilovsky, Hassan Karimi, Yu-Ru Lin, Vladimir Zadorozhny, Stephen Hirtle and Olena Sherbinin met with the visitors in the Information Sciences building. Guests discussed the use of various data analysis methods (data mining, text mining, classical forecast techniques) in the decision making and development of IT-companies. Ms. Darya Avilova (Government Programs and Industry Relations Analyst, Skolkovo Institute of Science & Technology), Ms. Mariya Milkova (Chief Business Development Officer for Statsoft-Russia), Ms. Olga Ponomareva (CEO of Garant-Park-Internet, LLC), and Ms. Kristina Zakharova (Business Development Manager, ALP-Information System, LLC) attended, accompanied by Mr. Vlad Petrov (Russian language translator) and Ms. Caroline Tibbets (GlobalPittsburgh Coordinator).
