Certificate of Advanced Study

Students enrolled in the Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) program are, in most cases, seasoned professionals who have advanced in their careers in librarianship and information management and wish to update their skills and knowledge. This certificate will allow you to enhance your professional development through a planned program of individualized study beyond the MLIS/MLS degree. The CAS/LIS program is designed specifically for those who do not wish to pursue the PhD degree, but who wish to continue their education along the lines of their special interests. This flexible program provides options that vary from working closely with a faculty member in a specific research area to taking a range of coursework.

A CAS gives you an opportunity to expand your skills in critical areas such as:

Program Requirements

To receive a CAS, you must complete a total of 24 credits of coursework acceptable to the advisor with an overall grade point average of B or better.
