School of Information Sciences - FastTrack MLIS Program

FastTrack MLIS Admissions

Online Application Is Available. We offer a Web-based application in hopes that it will make our application process as easy and convenient as possible for you.

Qualifications

The Library and Information Science Program seeks students with diverse educational and career backgrounds.  You will be joining a community of learners who come from incredibly varied professional and educational backgrounds.  Some students have worked in a library or archive setting for many years; other students have no library experience whatsoever.  Some FastTrack MLIS students have advanced degrees; others have been working in fields as diverse as medicine, law, education, and business.

Applicants for graduate study must have earned a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a scholastic average of B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required for admission to the MLIS or the FastTrack MLIS program.

Up to six (6) credits of graduate-level course work can be transferred from an accredited institution of higher education, provided that the credit was not applied toward a previous degree or certificate. Courses that you wish to have transferred must have been taken within four (4) years preceding the date of initial enrollment in the FastTrack MLIS program. You must demonstrate that the course(s) are relevant to your career objectives and to the curriculum. To have credits transferred, you must also obtain the advice and written approval of your faculty advisor.

Application Fee

The application fee is $50 for all applicants and must be paid when you submit your application. The fee will not be waived, deferred, or refunded. Applications will not be considered until the fee has been received. Receipt of payment will be acknowledged by email from Apply Yourself.
