School of Information Sciences - Undergraduate Program

Abdul Salem

Class of 2007, BSIS

In June 2007, Abdul donned his cap and gown and accepted his Pitt diploma. Today, he works as a software engineer for Google. Yes, that Google.

Abdul, like many other Pitt students, started his college studies at another institution but found that he wanted more from his studies. After enrolling in SIS, he began an ambitious program of study and internships—five in all! One internship led to his dream job as a software engineer for Google.

“In the BSIS program, everyone gets what they want out of it," Abdul notes. "I did five internships to get real-life experience.” He also praised the program’s variety of classes, which let him sample many of the areas covered by the school’s undergraduate program.
