School of Information Sciences - Undergraduate Program

iSchool financial support

Eli Lilly IT Scholarship Award

The Eli Lilly IT Scholarship Award provides scholarship support to outstanding undergraduate students nominated by BSIS faculty members.

ALCOA Ambassadors Program

Through the generosity of Alcoa Inc., the iSchool is pleased to announce that we are now able to offer a number of significant scholarships to students who will improve the population of diversity within the iSchool. Students entering the undergraduate Information Science Program are eligible for the scholarship, providing they have achieved a minimum QPA of 3.25 in their studies prior to entering the iSchool.  Students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance while at the University of Pittsburgh may be awarded an even greater amount of scholarship funds for a semester or academic year. Students are nominated for the “ALCOA Ambassador Scholarships” by a committee of faculty in the undergraduate Information Science Program at the iSchool.  The iSchool is one of a select number of institutions to participate in this Scholarship Program, which aims to increase the diversity of the Information Science profession.

IS Scholarship Fund

This fund, supported by the SIS endowment, is offered to any undergraduate or graduate student in the school. The gift amount depends on the funds available.

Affordable excellence

A year's tuition at the School of Information Sciences is:

  • $2,066 less than the average among other Pitt upper-level undergraduate programs
  • $1,096 less than the average among IS programs at other public universities in Pennsylvania
  • $21,258 less than the average among IS programs at Pennsylvania private universities
  • 50 percent less than the average among Pitt's fellow I-school coalition-member schools

Education, Not Training

The iSchool provides education rather than training, enabling our graduates to be experts in many professional areas.
